Lyckat fiske i Abbey!

Heron
Since the beginning of September the fishing has improved a great deal and the carp are starting to spread out around the lakes (searching for food?), catches are on the up weekly on Heron. Pegs 1-4 and 20-23 have seen the lion’s share of the action after strong South Westerly winds blew down to that end for the first 10 days of the month! All the anglers managed more than 8 fish each last week, peg 23 claimed the spoils as last week’s ‘top rod’ with 18 (and 6 lost), his biggest fish was 52.02 lbs! The biggest carp went to Jon Lane, who camped out on the point 19 and he landed Bruno at 60.00+.. We can’t be too sure of the weight as during the heat of the moment he failed to notice that a) he’d brought his ‘small’ scales on the trip instead of his ‘foreign’ ones and b) Bruno was actually causing them to ‘bottom out’ at 60.08 and that wasn’t the true reading!! However, don’t ignore the far end of Heron as the previous week saw Richard catch an impressive total of 41 fish including 12x 40?s and the average weight of his fish was an impressive 36.10lbs, the biggest, a stunning Common of 49.12! The favourite swims from 9-12 also produced double figure catches to their occupants, Bryan aka Mr Spomb from Spomb Fishing came over for a short trip with his son and friend Tony and they managed to land 18 carp once they’d got over the weed issues!! Son Terry banked 3x 40?s fishing across to the gravel area in front of the spit of land at 15/16..

Fox!
Has been on an incredible run of late, I have lost count on the numbers of fish caught but at a guess, there are nearly 150 fish per week being landed and that’s been the case for almost 2 months! While there aren’t as many big fish to go at in the lake, it has produced an incredible average weight lately approaching nearly 40lbs!! Most has caught at least one 40 lbs!

During September we have received reports of 3 different 50lb+ Carp and what we think is Humpy (although I haven’t seen the pictures in close up detail) at a much improved 63.04lbs after it had spawned earlier in the year and dropped down to 59ish, so that’s a good sign for the next few weeks, if it starts to feed hard and one of your guys is in the right place at the right time, who knows how big it could be, almost certainly it’ll top it’s current top weight of 69.12lb?!

Kingfisher
Kingfisher is the hardest lake to keep up to speed with as the Cat Anglers are a funny breed (as I’m sure you know haha) and play their cards close to their chests most of the time, but again, I think everyone over the past 3 weeks has managed at least 1x 40lb Carp which is staggering considering this is the least fished lake on the Complex and they seem to be averaging around 34-36lbs in weight! The Catfish are still feeding well, this week’s ‘top rod’ managed to successfully land over 20, ranging from 24.08-132lbs! The biggest fish in recent weeks have been a brace to one of our Dutch Anglers, they weighed 148 and 156lbs respectively!
